A father and son have mowed a giant 120ft moustache into a field to celebrate the charity Movember. William Gilbert and his father John of grass seed experts British Seed Houses Limited, created the world’s biggest moustache on a farm in Wedmore, Somerset. The pair took three days, using an agricultural mower and a strimmer, to shape the enormous 120ft by 40ft grass version of the charity’s logo. Picture: British Seed Houses/Solent News
The Milky Way appears above a sea of clouds in this photograph by Roberto Bertero, who trekked to a remote mountain top to capture the image. He stayed overnight at the summit of Mount Rocciamelone, watching in awe as the sky changed above the Italian Alps.
George Karbus/Solent News: A diver swimming beneath thick ice is silhouetted against the green glow of the Northern Lights. Irish photographer George Karbus went to extraordinary lengths to capture this image in bitterly cold waters of Russia’s White Sea in the Arctic Circle. George, 33, his girlfriend and a friend ventured out from the shore, cut a hole in the foot-thick ice and took the plunge. He dipped below his girlfriend Kate Hamsiaora - who was swimming some six metres under the ice - to get this beautiful shot while the the aurora borealis illuminated the night sky.
